A Few...

This is a bust I hand built then raku fired. Raku is a form of firing that you can do to finish the piece, or you can use high fire kilns. Raku is done with a very simple handmade kiln and a blow torch. Very hands on, which I love. Your not just throwing it in a kiln for a couple of days, you are actually watching the piece being fired. I have found it can take anywhere from 20 minutes to a few hours depending on the size. So much fun... I miss it

We took a trip to the Menil Museum in Houston, we had to pick a piece that inspired us and create our own version of it. These are my fertility dolls. Raku

Handbuilt vase. I painted wax on it to make the flowers and rubbed away the clay so they would stand out. High Fire

Old African Art is my absolute favorite when it comes to sculpture. Raku piece. I put it in the water to cool down too soon and it cracked. I think it adds character

This one was thrown on a wheel, the base and lid. High Fire

Also thrown on wheel, High Fire. This one was a mess up. When it was bisque fired (which is the first firing the piece undergoes before you glaze and refire) it was not fired throughly. So on the second firing after being glazed it started popping really loud in the kiln and this is what came out. It is still my favorite piece

Zilker Botanical Gardens Austin, TX

We decided to get out of the house one day and take a walk around a park that was nearby. Turned out to be an absolutely amazing place.

My series of birds I painted for an advanced painting class at UHCL. I was working on the owl when Hurricane Ike decided to come crashing through Galveston. I was sure it was going to be ruined after receiving numerous calls from the school saying the buildings were hit pretty hard. We could finally return to class after a couple of weeks and there he was sitting there against the window, untouched. I was stoked. His name is Ike
This is my Flamingo; I love her

For the last one, I painted a peacock. Her name is Penelope. My Grandma had just passed away and I wanted to paint something to remind me of her. Her birth month was December, and the flower for that month is the Narcissus. May not look much like them but that's what is in the background.

A Day at Armond Bayou...

The black and white ones were taken with a 1970's Pentax 35mm. I developed the film myself and printed the photos by hand in a dark room
